For over 35 years, Tuga Pastries has been baking joy into every bite. As a second-generation family bakery, we're famous for our flaky pastries, artisan breads, and - of course - our iconic Portuguese Tarts loved across Sydney.

At Tuga, we're growing - and we're looking for a talented Chefs (Savoury Section) to help with our busy café kitchens.

In this hands-on role, you'll play a key part in shaping the flavour, quality, and consistency of our savoury menu across our venues. You'll lead and inspire a passionate kitchen team, bring fresh ideas to the table, and ensure our customers enjoy the same high standard of deliciousness that Tuga is known for.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and ensure the consistency and quality of all savoury menu items.
  • Develop and test new recipes to expand and elevate our savoury range
  • Lead by example and inspire your team of Chefs and Kitchen Assistants to deliver excellence every day
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and service
  • Oversee kitchen operations including stock management, hygiene, cleaning, and equipment maintenance
  • Uphold and promote HACCP food safety standards at all times
  • Support a culture of creativity, collaboration, and growth within the kitchen

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in a Chef or Section Lead role, ideally within a café, bakery, or restaurant environment
  • Cert IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills - you enjoy helping your team grow
  • Excellent time management, organisation, and attention to detail
  • Calm and professional under pressure, with a focus on solutions
  • Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including early mornings and weekends when needed
