The Office for Early Childhood Development (OECD) was created to champion change and to help build a system that gives all children a flying start to life.

Guided by the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Early Childhood Education and Care, the OECD is the steward of the early childhood development system in South Australia. The Office is tasked with a significant responsibility to bring together a holistic, connected system for early childhood development across South Australia.

The Executive Director, Change and Engagement is a critical role providing strategic leadership and direction for the delivery of sector and statewide change and engagement initiatives.

Your leadership will be critical to translating investment and policy into change on the ground, across a large and diverse sector, and in communities across the state.

This role will require someone who can effectively lead the strategy and operations for our eight regional teams, as well as our communications and engagement function, and who enjoys being part of the public face of the organisation with a wide range of stakeholders and partners.

You will lead on a range of stakeholder forums, media, public relations and branding, and sector-wide and localised change strategies, plans an initiative.

Internally this role will require someone who can inspire and foster an organisational culture that supports well-organised and collaborative reform implementation.

Reporting to the Chief Executive and forming part of the Leadership Team, the role requires an appropriately qualified Executive with proven experience leading large-scale change or reform, ideally within the education, human services or community services sectors, combining strategic influence, critical and data-driven thinking, and practical engagement with the resolution of local issues.

You will bring the ability to navigate complexity, align multiple interests and deliver outcomes within dynamic policy and political contexts.

This appointment offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to a landmark reform shaping the future of early childhood development in South Australia and is offered on a temporary contract term commencing January 2026.
