About the opportunity
As a Law Clerk at Inland Rail, you'll provide essential legal support under the guidance of the General Counsel, Chief Commercial Officer, and Heads of Legal. You'll play a key role in delivering legal services across the Inland Rail program, collaborating with teams across Australia to help keep this transformative infrastructure project on track.
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
The role is to support the provision of in-house legal services, including:
- Legal research and legislative compliance support.
- Document preparation and management including drafting (using precedents), formatting and proof reading of correspondence, legal documents and contracts.
- Drafting advice for review by senior lawyers.
- Reviewing and negotiating simple procurement contracts.
- Arranging for execution of contracts and documents.
- Providing administrative and team coordination support.
About You
To thrive as a Law Clerk, you'll need to be detail-oriented, highly organised, and eager to learn. You should have an interest in legal research and analysis, with the ability to communicate clearly and work well with others. Being proactive, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment will help you succeed especially when supporting a large, complex project like Inland Rail.
Key responsibilities will include but are not limmited to:
- Currently studying law at an Australian university (minimum second year).
- Must have completed Introduction to Law and Contract Law.
- A Grade Point Average of 5+ (or equivalent).
- Experience of full/or part-time work (legal and/or non-legal).
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and drafting skills).
- Exceptional attention to detail and time management.
- The ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
