Help Build the Data Backbone of AI-Driven Building Inspections

Voltin Operations Pty Ltd is seeking motivated casual Data Technician Project Officers to support our Project Lead Engineer and Data Scientist in developing and refining our data labelling and data management processes.

Voltin is transforming building façade inspections through our innovative automated data capture and AI-driven defect analysis system.

This role offers practical experience at the core of AI model development — ensuring high-quality, well-managed data streams for computer vision and engineering insights.

What You'll Do

• Process image and geospatial data for automated building façade inspection.
• Work with Voltin's Data Scientist to label, structure, and prepare façade image datasets.
• Assist in standardising data formats and metadata for machine readability.
• Support the creation of semi-automated data pipelines to streamline analysis.
• Document processes for data labelling, indexing, and archiving.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure data capture aligns with downstream requirements.

What We're Looking For

• Background or current study in data science, information management, or software engineering.
• Ability to code in Python for data cleaning and automation (preferred).
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Interest in AI, machine learning, or spatial data.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.

Reporting To

Voltin Project Lead Engineer and Data Scientist

Position Purpose

The role provides practical support in developing an effective data labelling, management, and analysis process for Voltin's façade inspection technology. This includes preparing and standardising datasets, applying consistent metadata structures, and assisting in the development of semi-automated pipelines to improve the accuracy and scalability of AI-powered defect detection.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Use and improve internal tooling for bulk processing of imagery and geospatial data.
• Collaborate with the Data Scientist to label façade imagery for AI defect detection.
• Standardise datasets and metadata for integration with Voltin's systems.
• Assist in the ingestion and indexing of archived image data into structured data streams.
• Contribute to the creation of data templates for field capture and inspection workflows.
• Support the design of a semi-automated analysis pipeline.
• Ensure compliance with Voltin's Code of Conduct, OH&S standards, and quality procedures.

Education & Experience

• Current or completed undergraduate degree in data science, information science, software engineering, or related fields.
• Experience with data analysis, management, or labelling.
• Coding ability in Python for automation and data cleaning.
• Familiarity with spatial data or GIS software (advantageous).
• Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills.
