Join our team as a Water Distribution Operative
Do you enjoy working outdoors, solving problems on the go, and taking real pride in your work? We're seeking a skilled and reliable Water Distribution Operative to help construct, maintain, and operate critical water and wastewater infrastructure across our region. This is a hands-on role where your decisions make a direct impact on the health and wellbeing of the community.
Your responsibilities will include:
Perform construction, maintenance, and repairs on water and wastewater infrastructure with minimal supervision.
Operate tools, plant, and equipment safely, including confined space and traffic control tasks.
Manage daily work plans, use digital systems (e.g. SCADA, GIS), and maintain accurate records.
Oversee network isolations and flow diversions to maintain service continuity.
Support and enforce WHS, environmental, and compliance procedures.
Provide clear, professional customer service and resolve service issues as needed.
What we're looking for:
We're seeking an experienced water industry professional with strong technical skills in water reticulation valve operations, system maintenance, and fault investigation. You'll be confident in operating complex infrastructure, providing accurate technical advice, maintaining detailed records, and delivering excellent customer service - while ensuring safety, environmental, and legislative compliance.
Skills and Experience:
Strong time management and planning skills
Proven ability to work autonomously and take initiative
Sound understanding of water reticulation systems and infrastructure
Confident with technology, tools, and safety protocols
Excellent communication and customer service skills, including conflict resolution
Willingness to contribute to a team-first culture

Eligibility:
You'll hold a current C Manual drivers licence.
You'll have the ability to participate in the after-hours on-call roster, including remote response and site-related operations over weekends and public holidays on a rostered basis.
You'll have the physical capability and ability to hold a confined space entry certificate.
