Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Weinberger Lawyers Full time $150,000 - $200,000 per year

High-calibre litigator?
Step back into the work you love; with the flexibility you've been searching for.

Award-winning, high-stakes, complex matters, on
your
terms. Ideally your background as a litigator is in either or a combination of property, commercial, corporate, equity, family law and/or insolvency litigation.

Weinberger Lawyers is an award winning, property and commercial litigation firm recognised for strategic thinking, technical excellence, and solving problems other firms won't touch. Our clients and referral sources are from a diverse range of developers, investors, professionals, and individuals (including where family breakdown is a feature) navigating multi layered legal disputes arising from commercial or family related differences, relationship breakdowns or problems arising with their financiers.

We specialise in high stakes, high pressure matters across property disputes (including vendor/purchaser, co-owner disputes, Supreme Court equity claims, related family law issues and landlord/tenant disputes), development (including collective sale sales, acquisitions and objections under Part 10 of the
Strata Schemes Development Act 2015
), planning and regulatory orders and enforcement (including development control orders) and strata (including complex strata management disputes in NCAT, repair obligations of owners corporations and related issues). These matters often involve high stakes commercial issues and at times intense time pressure.

We're looking for an experienced litigator to join us part-time (0.6 FTE) in a senior role
purposefully built for flexibility
. Whether you're returning to law, shifting priorities, or simply looking for a better way to practice, this role offers meaningful, challenging work without sacrificing balance.

About the role:

You will work closely with the Principal and operations team to manage a growing portfolio of complex matters, lead litigation strategy, and guide junior staff. Any referral sources of your own in the above categories are also encouraged.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Leading litigation and dispute strategy across a variety of litigation matters (including commercial, residential, strata, planning, enforcement)

  • Overseeing, managing and reviewing legal work prepared by junior lawyers, providing both quality control and developmental feedback

  • Managing client communications, timelines and expectations with confidence, decisiveness, diplomacy and empathy

  • Mentoring junior staff and contributing to their legal and professional growth

  • Assisting in the strategic management of workflow across the firm as it scales

You will be a senior voice in the room. You will be relied on for your judgement, your attention to detail, your drafting precision, and your ability to manage people, pressure, and nuance.

About you:

You are a confident, experienced litigator with a strong grounding in the technical and practical aspects of one of more of the above areas of law. You may have worked in a mid-tier or top-tier firm and are now looking for something that gives you more ownership, more impact, and more flexibility.

You will need:

  • At least 8+ years' post admission experience, with a strong focus on property disputes and litigation

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an eye for detail and clarity

  • Proven ability to manage complex files, competing priorities, and demanding clients

  • A calm and confident leadership style, able to mentor, support and direct junior team members

  • Experience drafting and reviewing advice, correspondence, pleadings, affidavits, submissions, contracts and deeds with a critical, strategic lens

  • A willingness to be hands on in a collaborative and fast-growing team

Why join Weinberger Lawyers?:

  • Recognised excellence:
Finalists in the 2025 Australian Law Awards (Property Lawyer of the Year) and 2025 Australian Small Business Champion Awards (Legal Services – Medium, and Business Leader in Legal Services)

  • Real flexibility:
A 0.6 FTE role, with a schedule tailored around your availability (e.g. school hours, reduced days). In office only, but your time is yours.

  • Human approach:
We care about the people we work with, and we're building a culture where great lawyers can do their best work without burnout.

  • Growth without chaos:
This role exists because the firm is growing fast, and we're doing it intentionally. You'll help shape the next chapter of our practice with the support of an experienced operations manager and Principal.

How to apply:

If this sounds like the kind of role you've been waiting for, we'd love to hear from you. Please apply with your CV and a short cover note outlining your experience and availability by email to

All applications will be treated confidentially in a reciprocal way (this includes, if you discuss the role with us, that you keep our discussions confidential). If you're unsure whether your background is the right fit, reach out anyway, we're open to conversations with the right people.
