About the Role

As a Biosecurity Officer with the Central West LLS team, you'll play a key role in supporting landholders to manage pest animals and Biosecurity in the region. You'll work on field activities, provide advice on pest animal management, and compliance with regulations, helping protect the agricultural landscape and natural ecosystems. You'll collaborate with stakeholders, support emergency response efforts, and ensure programs meet national biosecurity standards.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct field and regulatory activities for pest and disease management.
  • Ensure compliance with biosecurity legislation and regulations.
  • Engage with customers and stakeholders on biosecurity initiatives.
  • Support surveillance, investigation, and emergency response efforts.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to program evaluation.

  • Engaging diverse stakeholders while applying regulations.
  • Balancing planned activities with immediate biosecurity needs.

About You

This is a role for someone who loves being in the field and working with people and animals, and to be successful you'll need to have a current NSW Class C Driver License and the ability and willingness to travel (including overnight stays) as required.

Ideally you'll have some or all of the following now, however, if not you'll need to have the ability and willingness to obtain these as part of your employment in the role:

  • The ability to undertake Biosecurity Officer accreditation including a Certificate IV in Government Investigations
  • The ability to hold and maintain Authorised Officer status under the Biosecurity Act
  • Appropriate pesticide application qualifications (minimum AQF3 level)
  • The capacity to hold an NSW firearms licence or equivalent, as well as obtain the Statement of Attainment - Use firearms to humanely destroy animals (AQF AHCVPT203A or AHCPMG304)
