The Role:

We are currently seeking a hands-on Technical Services Superintendent to lead our high performing technical team, at our Vulcan Mine complex. Situated in the Bowen Basin, approximately 45 km from Dysart, the Vulcan Mine Complex has been in production since mid-2021, producing 1.95 Mt per annum from the Jupiter and Vulcan North open pits.

Reporting to the SSE on site and Corporate Principal Mining Engineer, this role will see the successful candidate work on the full range of mine planning horizons, from feasibility to short term planning and design work. This position is suited to someone who has sufficient truck and shovel experience to run the mine from a technical perspective and is capable assisting in Vitrinite's expansion plans.

This is a unique opportunity to work for an owner operator on a diverse range of tasks such as Drill and blast, survey, short term execution planning, highwall mining and 3-month mine planning. This role requires a hands-on professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is eager to contribute to the success of a growing and innovative mining company.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure mine plans and designs are compliant with State Legislation and Site SHMS requirements;
  • Coordinate, manage and undertake mine site technical services activities, including engineering, survey, environmental and geological activities;
  • Design, plan, manage and execute drill and blast requirements for the site;
  • Ensure Mine Designs are developed in accordance with geotechnical risk management criteria and recommendations;
  • Lead the development and execution of short-term and medium-term plans with support of corporate and other departments;
  • Liaise with the Operations teams to ensure mine plans are well communicated and meet expectations;
  • Implement and manage geotechnical, hydrological and environmental studies.

Roster:

The position is offered on a 5/2 roster with accommodation in either Moranbah or Dysart may be provided, if not living local. DIDO encouraged however FIFO options also available.

About the Candidate:

Required Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering or similar

Required Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in coal mining industry (5+ years' experience).
  • Experience of working with Drill & Blast and Surveying Teams.

Relevant Skills

  • Experience in using mining software/design tools (Vulcan, Spry)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong attention to detail

Remuneration:

An attractive remuneration package will be on offer for the preferred candidate.

Successful candidates:

  • May be required to complete background screening which may include a criminal check and validation of qualifications.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening.
