About the role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Piling Designer to join our team, with a strong passion for delivering design work from the contractor's side rather than traditional consultancy.

This is a unique opportunity for a geotechnical or strong structural engineer who has an interest in geotechnical design, someone who thrives in a fast-paced, delivery-focused environment and wants to become a leading expert in piling and ground improvement design.

Experience working on the contractor side of design will be highly regarded, particularly where it involves managing competing deadlines, solving real-time design issues, and ensuring practical constructability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead or support the design of piling systems, foundations, and basements on complex ground conditions
• Produce and check geotechnical and structural calculations using industry-standard software such as PLAXIS and WALLAP
• Design and review retention and basement structures
• Collaborate with construction and delivery teams to ensure practical and efficient design outcomes
• Contribute to design methodology, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team

About you

• Minimum 5 years' experience in piling, geotechnical, or foundation design
• Strong geotechnical and structural engineering background
• Experience using PLAXIS, WALLAP, and other relevant design software
• Demonstrated experience designing basement structures and retention systems
• Proven experience delivering design work on the contracting side – with strong time management and real-world problem-solving skills
• Passion for constructability, practical design outcomes, and contractor-focused delivery
• A team player with the ambition to grow into a specialist in ground improvement and piling design
• Willingness to support estimating activities and assist in writing proposals
