Network Engineer – Federal Government Infrastructure

We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support the sustainment, operation, and ongoing development of a highly complex Federal Government network environment. This role offers the opportunity to work across a broad range of cutting-edge technologies, ensuring the stability, security, and performance of mission-critical ICT systems whilst working in a small and agile organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain secure, high-availability ICT networks across Departmental systems.
  • Troubleshoot and respond to network incidents, implementing changes and preventative measures.
  • Support planning, design, and delivery of network engineering solutions.
  • Develop, document, and enforce network policies, procedures, and operating standards.
  • Monitor performance and drive continuous improvement to enhance reliability and service delivery.
  • Contribute to network architecture planning and evaluate emerging Technologies for future adoption.
  • Support disaster recovery strategies and oversee vendor partnerships to ensure effective service outcomes.

Technical Expertise

  • Cisco - Routers & Switches – Configuration, deployment, and management
  • Palo Alto / Fortinet - Firewalls
  • Experience with SD-WAN, and routing protocols.
  • Industry certifications highly regarded: CCNA, CCNP etc.

  • Experience working with Federal Government network environments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage incidents and deliver long-term solutions
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A collaborative, proactive approach with a focus on service delivery and innovation
  • Active NV1 clearance
