Who we are:

The Wagga Wagga Community Mental Health, Drug & Alcohol (CMHDA) team is an inclusive and committed team of staff, the largest of six CMHDA teams across Murrumbidgee LHD. There are approximately 32 multidisciplinary clinicians and support staff across the whole team, with 7 of those working directly within the AOD team. Our team is as diverse as the vibrant communities we support. CMHDA services are provided across the life span from the Health Services Hub on the campus of the Wagga Wagga Base Hospital. The team works closely with many community organisations including Calvary Riverina Drug & Alcohol Centre, Pathways, Karralika, Recovery Hub and Medicare Mental Health Centre to ensure people receive the right care for their needs. At a district level we have access to clinical leaders for D&A and MH, and other specialty services such as the Substance Use in Pregnancy and Parenting Service (SUPPS).

What you'll be doing:

Using innovative, evidence-based skills and interventions, you will professionally support individuals seeking assistance with alcohol and other drug use. You will take a trauma-informed approach and provide respectful, person-centred care, tailored to individual's needs. Central to your role will be employing an individualised, holistic approach to care, incorporating comprehensive care planning to address the diverse physical, emotional, and social aspects of each person's journey.

You will be responsible for:

  • Conducting triage, assessment, risk management and withdrawal management and referrals for co-occurring mental health issues/disorders.
  • Supporting consumers through withdrawal and other challenges related to alcohol and other drug issues including the provision of education.
  • Collaborate with other services to promote continuity of care

Criteria:

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Current qualification as a Registered Nurse, Social Worker, Psychologist or other recognised qualification within the Allied Health Professionals Award. Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency or eligibility for membership of the relevant professional association.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and proven problem-solving ability within a clinical setting.
