The Lottery Corporation is seeking a talented Senior Legal Counsel – Corporate. You'll be an important member of the Legal & Risk function and will work closely with the General Counsel – Corporate Services to deliver legal services to a broad corporate portfolio and provide high quality advice on complex and strategic matters and projects.

This role presents an exciting opportunity for a corporate advisory specialist to help shape the future of a unique Brisbane-headquartered ASX-50 company.  Location is flexible, with Brisbane or Sydney preferred. 

What you'll do

  • Provide high-quality, timely, and commercially minded legal advice to a broad range of internal corporate stakeholders, including Company Secretariat, Corporate Development, Corporate Affairs, Treasury & Investor Relations, Statutory Reporting, Tax and Property teams. 
  • Advise on corporate transactions, projects and other strategic initiatives
  • Support the Treasury team with the Company's debt portfolio and advise on capital management initiatives
  • Provide legal and other support to the Company Secretariat team on governance, corporate reporting and other matters
  • Collaborate with other members of the Legal & Risk function on a broad range of general commercial matters
  • Help manage regulatory change as it relates to the corporate portfolio
  • Help drive change and high-performance through identifying and implementing improvement opportunities across processes, policies and templates.

     

What you'll bring 

  • Degree qualified in Law, and admitted to practice, with at least 5 years post admission experience in an in-house and/or private practice environment
  • Strong track record of advising on, negotiating and executing complex M&A and corporate finance transactions (debt and equity)
  • Specialist knowledge of corporate and commercial law and governance issues, and strong experience advising listed corporations
  • Robust negotiation, drafting and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work collaboratively and to influence across all levels, including senior executives
  • Ability to operate autonomously – a self-starter with initiative and drive
  • Pragmatic and practical with an ability to work successfully in a fast-paced demanding environment and to navigate through a high degree of complexity
