The Controls Automation & Innovation team is responsible for ensuring that strong controls are in place and decisions are well informed, timely and socialised. They achieve this through providing an end-to-end risk and control service, including the effective design & implementation of controls, ensuring the operational risk & compliance frameworks are effectively implemented in their BU's and ensuring each BU LT has the right level of comfort and governance within their risk environment.
Your Impact:
The Control Assurance Senior Manager will be responsible for Controls Assurance (including Automated/ semi-automated controls) in line with the control assurance framework for Retail Banking Services (RBS) Line 1 team.
In any given week you will be responsible for:
- Supporting RBS to design and implement automated controls enabling better risk and compliance outcomes.
- Ensuring the effective design of automated controls for new and changing processes and operations and support the business through the implementation.
- Leading RBS in the design, development, and embedment of a continuous assurance model.
- Assisting the RBS Line 1 Risk teams embed effective controls throughout RBS by providing robust feedback where required and recommending appropriate enhancements.
- Managing Control Assurance Program (CAP) testing, including the review of test plans, and report on assurance findings.
- Leading a team of 5 direct reports.
- A strong background in operational risk management, with expertise in Continuous Control Testing, benchmarking, and advanced analytical procedures, gained through experience in banking or financial services.
- Demonstrated experience in controls assurance, including automated controls, application controls, or IT general controls.
- Proven people leadership with the ability to lead and manage teams, motivate and support team members, foster a collaborative and inclusive culture, and drive high performance.
- Skilled in using data and analytics to test controls, solve problems, and deliver meaningful risk and assurance outcomes.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships, influence decisions, and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Clear and confident communicator, both in writing and verbally.
- Familiarity with data analytics tools or programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python).
