Salary Range: $85,000 – $105,000 (pro rata % superannuation, 5 weeks annual leave + 17.5% leave loading and travel remuneration
Who we are

Independent Rehabilitation Services (IRS) are a team of 60 passionate, skilled and dedicated Allied Health clinicians across our Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Speech Pathology Teams. Established in 1999, we have an outstanding reputation with our clients, their families, and the providers we work with.

We work exclusively with adults with neurological conditions in the community – from hospital discharge to many years down the track. We strongly believe in our person-centred approach which produces the best outcomes for our clients. We are dedicated to supporting our clients achieve their goals, reaching their potential and maximising their independence and participation in their lives and communities.

Your day to day

At IRS every day is different.

You'll be supported by an experienced neuro team

  • We make sure your transition into a new workplace is smooth and supported
  • Extensive induction program, clinical and professional supervision, mentoring, and our unique Resilience Buddy Program.
  • A mixed caseload with a range of levels of complexity

You'll have variety

  • You'll see clients with neurological conditions, such as traumatic brain injury, stroke and Parkinson's Disease
  • You'll work closely with clients, their families and supports.
  • You'll most likely see your clients in their home, however you might also see your clients out in the community at the shops, at their day program or at work.

You'll help clients achieve their goals

  • Support our clients to achieve their goals across areas of practice like speech, language, swallowing, voice, cognitive-communication and AAC.
  • Using an evidence-based approach through assessment, intervention, goal setting and outcome measurement, as well as your natural creativity.
  • You'll be liaising with external providers, such as TAC and NDIS, to advocate for your clients

We'll support you to achieve your goals

  • Supervision and mentoring from our experienced multidisciplinary team (MDT)
  • Our Career Journey Program helps you achieve your career goals and lifelong learning.
  • You'll also have an opportunity to supervise and mentor other members of the MDT, as well as supervise other clinicians.
  • You'll have access to internal and external professional development opportunities.

You'll be part of a team

  • As a valued member of the Speech Pathology team, you'll be actively involved in team meetings, social catch-ups and opportunities to participate in projects.
  • You'll also be involved in MDT clinical work, staff meetings and social activities.

Benefits. In addition to your salary you receive annual leave loading (17.5%), superannuation (11.5%), travel reimbursement, laptop and phone, 5 days of PD leave and 5 weeks of annual leave.

About you

There are a few things that are essential for you to have in order to be successful in the role:

  • Eligible for membership, or current membership, with Speech Pathology Australia
  • A current drivers licence and a suitable vehicle
  • A passion for working in the community
  • An interest in working with adults with neurological conditions
  • Being a self-motivated lifelong learner, who is open to feedback
  • Able to work autonomously, and seek support when required
  • Being a client-centred, collaborative clinician

  • Experience working in the community
  • Experience working with adults with neurological conditions
  • An understanding of funding bodies such as TAC and NDIS
  • Able to manage complex clinical and social situations, with support as needed
