About the role

Thiess is currently seeking Mining Engineers & Drill and Blast Engineers for multiple positions across our operations, including key projects in the Bowen Basin, Queensland.

As our next Mining Engineer, your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Designing and developing rolling weekly excavator plans and schedules for mining operations.
• Providing designs and making any required amendments to meet operational requirements.
• Coordinating plans and schedules, and monitoring actual progress against benchmarks.
• Assisting in the management of weekly dig/dump plans in consultation with Mining Superintendents and Supervisors.
• Ensuring the implementation and compliance of the Weekly Plan, along with adherence to site Safety, Health, and Environmental standards to maintain safe and sustainable mining practices.
• Supplying relevant information to support End of Month reporting requirements.
• Using in-house software and data capture tools to generate reports as needed.
• Applying your skills to continuously pursue innovative solutions.

About you

• Prior experience working as a mining engineer
• Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or related field
• Proficient in MS Office and mine design, planning and scheduling packages including Vulcan, Deswik, Spry / XPAC / XACT highly desired.
• Planning, design and scheduling skills
