Role Purpose

Reporting to senior finance leadership, the Finance Data Scientist plays a critical role in transforming financial data into actionable insights, enabling smarter decision-making and shaping the future of digital finance.
This is a high-impact opportunity for a data-driven professional to lead the development of predictive models, optimise financial processes, and influence enterprise-wide strategies through intelligent automation and advanced analytics.
Key Accountabilities:
Advanced Financial Analytics:
Develop and deploy predictive models to support forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning.
- Perform deep-dive analysis on financial performance, cost drivers, and profitability metrics.
Data Engineering & Management:
Design and maintain robust data pipelines to support real-time financial reporting and analytics.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance across finance systems and sources.
Business Intelligence & Visualisation:
Build interactive dashboards and visualisations using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
- Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Partner with finance, operations, and ICT teams to identify analytical opportunities and deliver data-driven solutions.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership in a clear and compelling manner.
Technology Integration & Innovation:
Integrate data science capabilities with ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central).
- Explore and implement AI/ML techniques to automate financial processes and enhance decision-making.
Compliance & Risk Analytics:
Support regulatory reporting and compliance through data-driven approaches.
- Develop models to assess financial risk and support internal audit and control functions.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies in data science and finance.
- Drive a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the finance analytics function.
Suitable candidates will be able to demonstrate:
- CA or CPA qualification (or near completion).
Minimum of 6 years in a finance analytics or data science role, ideally within a dynamic, growth-oriented organisation.
Proven experience in month-end and year-end financial processes, tax reporting, and regulatory compliance.
Proficiency in statistical analysis, financial modelling, and machine learning techniques to support forecasting and performance insights.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and other financial systems.
- Skills in building data pipelines and dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
- Advanced Excel capabilities, including Power Query, VBA, and complex financial modelling.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for finance and executive stakeholders.
- A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement, digital transformation, and emerging technologies.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment, driving data initiatives across departments.
