About The Role
The Senior Governance Officer plays a critical role in ensuring that the Central Coast Council (CCC) meets its governance obligations. This position is responsible for providing guidance and support on governance matters, including privacy and data breach reviews, policy management, staff delegations and legislative compliance. The Senior Governance Officer will also ensure that the organisation maintains high standards of customer service while creating value for the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance systems to ensure compliance with organisational and legislative governance requirements.
- Balance the need for compliance with the implementation of efficient processes to avoid bureaucratic barriers.
- Manage educational programs to promote awareness of governance requirements among staff and Councillors.
- Provide accurate and timely reporting on governance matters, ensuring legislative deadlines are met.
- Oversee the coordination and implementation of governance projects and activities.
- Assist in the development and review of governance documentation, including policies and procedures.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in governance, with proven experience in a similar role. They will be adaptable, committed to achieving goals, and skilled in building cooperative relationships.
- Diploma qualification in Public Administration or related field, or extensive relevant experience.
- Current Class C Driver's Licence.
- Proficient in computer databases and Microsoft Office applications.
- Sound knowledge of administrative legislation and governance frameworks.
- Experience providing strategic advice and support to management.
Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, the ability to manage conflict constructively, and a commitment to quality customer service.

Other Important Information
- The commencing salary for this position is up to $96.6k per year. Central Coast Council also provides progression opportunities for employees to progress up to the maximum salary of $112k per year on completion of assessment of skills and performance plus 12% superannuation
- We have a permanent full time role available
- This role will be able to access a 9 day fortnight
- We are able to offer hybrid and flexible working conditions for this role - 2 days from home and 3 days onsite
- This role is located at the Wyong Administration Building
