The Role

We are looking for a Victorian registered secondary school teacher, with at least one core subject experience, to work delivering our newest specialist cricket academy for this school. Working in a new school with modern landscaping, the school is surrounded by an engaged, vibrant, supportive community to which it has close ties. The school prides itself on fostering a strong culture of professional learning, where classroom observations, walkthroughs, coaching, data analysis, and academic research are embedded in everyday practice. In a new addition to the school, in line with these values a specialist cricket academy has been introduced to use students sporting interest in cricket to drive their engagement across the school community. Students will be able to immerse themselves in cricket through curriculum-based classes that focus on technical and theoretical skills and provide them with opportunities to develop skills and experience that goes beyond the field. With expectations that go with being part of this aspirational program, the academy is a real point of differentiation for the students and school, with the primary aim of improving education outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students
  • Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum program within the school
  • Undertaking other classroom teaching related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal
  • Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings; staff meetings; camps and excursions
  • Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties
  • Required to plan, manage and execute practices and matches (where appropriate) associated with cricket using your cricket coaching qualifications
  • Deliver the specialist cricket sport curriculum to drive engagement and learning outcomes using the proven resources provided by the academy
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders and partners to grow the cricket academy program in order to ensure students are fully engaged and provided with opportunities to grow and develop within cricketand sport in general
  • Maintain and uphold the behaviour standards expected of academy participants, carrying out reviews and follow ups where necessary

Requirements

  • Registered, or eligible to register, as a teacher in Victoria with experience teaching at least one core subject
  • Experience as cricket coach to at least community level, and with the ability to build and deliver engaging programs to diverse groups
  • Focussed on the development and improvement of educational outcomes, using cricket as a vehicle
