
Principal Engineer

The purpose of the role is to provide high level engineering expertise, leadership and guidance and oversee the road corridor activities in the Wide Bay/Burnett District.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Manage and provide technical direction to development control, access control, ancillary works and encroachments control and services liaison activities, to ensure the impacts of developments, accesses and ancillary works and encroachments are minimised and are compatible with transport planning and operations.
• Lead the corridor management team in close liaison with advisors and other key stakeholders.
• Provide technical, legislative and policy advice to staff and management on assessment of development applications and road corridor management issues which impact on state managed transport corridors.
• Provide support and advice on planning and design suitability and options, the use of materials, resources, components or systems, quality, environmental aspects and construction practices.
• Lead and manage the operational aspects of the corridor management team to ensure the effective and efficient use of systems and processes.
• Maintain and apply all relevant standards, policies, guidelines and legislative requirements necessary to support responsible decisions and courses of action for development control, access control, ancillary works and encroachments control and services liaison activities.
• Supervise and coordinate resource allocation with the expectation that you would encourage effective teamwork and foster a positive attitude toward the achievement of organisational objectives.
• Identify and manage networks and alliances of all stakeholders and manage the expectations and issues of all parties, including identifying possible political and high risk matters to ensure they are dealt with in a timely and professional manner.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions:
• A four-year, Washington Accord accredited, Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalence which is assessed/accepted by Engineers Australia against Washington Accord benchmarks.
• Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ).
• Current holder of car driver's licence.
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
