Newcastle SLSC is an iconic community organisation- the oldest surf lifesaving club in the Hunter region, we've been serving our local community since 1908.

Situated right on Newcastle Beach, our venue is open for public Beachlife sessions every weekend and public holidays, featuring live music, beach eats, and cheap drinks - Beachlife is the perfect atmosphere to soak up the sun, sand and surf

About the Role:

We highly value our staff and offer guaranteed above Award pay for all positions.

Pay rates for this position are dependent on demonstrated qualifications and/or experience.

This position is almost entirely weekend shifts across Friday afternoon/evenings, all day Saturday and Sunday, as well as most Public Holidays - plenty of penalty rates available and a good option if you're looking for a side hustle

Shift start/end times range between 9am and 9pm (no split shifts, no late nights and no early mornings)

Base pay rate is negotiable dependent on qualifications or equivalent experience/ demonstrated skillset.

In this role you will:

  • Prepare and cook a range of meals
  • Work independently in a one or two person kitchen
  • Demonstrate knowledge of standard procedures and policies relating to food preparation, receiving, preserving, freezing and storing all food products;
  • Demonstrate knowledge and enforcement of hygiene and safety requirements when handling food products;
  • Monitor stock levels and prepare order lists for food supplies;
  • Correctly operate and maintain kitchen equipment;
  • Conduct full kitchen operations including setup, service, closing and cleaning according to established procedures and with minimal oversight/assistance from senior staff.

About You:

  • Must be able to commit to at least two consistent shifts across Friday, Saturday and Sunday
  • Experienced working in fast paced kitchen environments across all sections/areas
  • Works well as part of a small tight-knit team
  • Dependable and capable of working with minimal oversight/direction
  • Cert IV in Commercial Cookery desirable, but not essential
  • Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) qualification desirable, but not essential
  • NSW Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) qualification desirable, but not essential
