NBMLHD Community Mental Health offers a range of specialised services for children, young people, families and older people, through our community-based services and health centres. Our multidisciplinary health professionals and case managers take a collaborative approach to mental health care by linking with their patients to work together and consult within an environment appropriate to the person's needs.

The Community Mental Health Team is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Team Leader to drive excellence in consumer care and clinical practice. This pivotal role demands advanced clinical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a commitment to recovery-oriented service delivery.

As Team Leader, you will oversee the implementation of evidence-based assessments and interventions, guide professional development across the multidisciplinary team, and manage key operational functions including rostering, workload allocation, and quality improvement initiatives.

What you will bring to the role

  • Nursing - Reg Nurse Div 1 with AHPRA, with at least 5 yrs FT equiv post reg exp & at least 3 FT equiv exp in the speciality field. In addition, the employee must have approved post grad nursing/midwifery quals relevant to the field in which he/she is appointed to, or such other quals or exp deemed appropriate by the Health Service. OT- min Bachelor's Deg & general registration with AHPRA & extensive specialist knowledge or high level of broad generalist knowledge. SW - min Bachelor's Deg & eligibility for membership of AASW & extensive specialist knowledge or high level of broad generalist knowledge. Snr Psych - a 4 yr degree in Psychology, being a 3 yr degree with a fourth yr honours in psychology; or quals deemed equivalent by the employer, full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia & 9 yrs' experience. Clin Psych- Master's deg or higher in Clin Psychology plus full registration as a psychologist and endorsed to practice as a Clin Psych with AHPRA.
  • Demonstrated expert level skills in mental health and discipline specific assessments and interventions and experience working with people with serious mental illness.
  • Demonstrated management experience and/or proven ability to provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team including skills and experience in clinical service management and quality improvement programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change within the workplace, balance competing demands and motivate staff.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and commitment to, a recovery focused model of care, incorporating consumer and carer consultation within the mental health service
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with good interpersonal skills, and computer literacy.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary community mental health service issues
  • Current Drivers License and willingness to use same for work purposes
