Are you a communications professional with a knack for storytelling, stakeholder engagement, and strategic thinking?

Hays is proud to be partnering with Power and Water Corporation to recruit a Strategic Communications Consultant for a 12-month full-time opportunity based in Darwin. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead strategic communication initiatives that shape internal culture, enhance external engagement, and support the organisation's purpose and vision across the Northern Territory.

Your new role

You'll work closely with senior leaders to develop and deliver communication strategies that drive engagement, celebrate achievements, and manage media and stakeholder relationships. From internal campaigns to external media opportunities, your work will help position Power and Water as an employer of choice and a trusted community partner.

What will you be doing?

  • Develop and deliver internal and external communication strategies that support the organisation's purpose, vision, and brand.
  • Create engaging content for media, social platforms, internal channels, and events.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior leaders on emerging issues and risks.
  • Collaborate with teams across the organisation to celebrate achievements and drive engagement.
  • Support outage communications and contribute to a culture of safety and inclusion.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex ideas.
  • Experience in strategic communications, including internal campaigns and external media.
  • Confidence in working with diverse stakeholders, including senior leadership.
  • Knowledge of digital channels and how to use them effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Qualifications in communications, journalism, or public relations are desirable, along with experience in a similar sector.
  • Experience in the utilities sector or similar industries will be a bonus.
