Demi Chef – Casual
We're on the lookout for a motivated Casual Demi Chef to join our vibrant kitchen team at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. This is a great opportunity for someone with solid kitchen experience who is eager to grow and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

As a Demi Chef, you'll assist in preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes in a specific section such as grill, sauce, or pastry. You'll help ensure high food quality, maintain hygiene standards, and support junior kitchen staff, all while contributing to a smooth and efficient service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and present dishes to a high standard within your assigned section

  • Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant kitchen space

  • Follow food safety and hygiene protocols at all times

  • Monitor stock and assist with rotation and inventory control

  • Support and guide Commis Chefs and junior team members

  • Communicate effectively with other sections during service

  • Respond to the demands of a fast-paced kitchen environment

About You:

  • 1 - 2 years of experience in a professional kitchen, ideally in a similar role

  • Basic knowledge of kitchen operations and food prep techniques

  • Strong teamwork, communication, and time management skills

  • Willingness to learn and take direction from senior chefs

  • Understanding of kitchen health and safety regulations

  • Able to perform under pressure in a busy service setting

  • Flexible availability, including weekends and public holidays
