Claims Officer – Latent & Special Risk
Open to Parramatta or Melbourne Location
Permanent, Full-Time role
The opportunity
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Liability Claims Officer to manage Latent & Special Risk claims on a permanent full-time basis. The role will see you proactively manage a portfolio of highly sensitive, confidential and historical Liability claims ensuring that quality customer service is provided.
The key responsibilities for this role include the following, but not limited to:
Efficient management of the claims process, resulting in accurate completion and validation of claims
Interpreting policy coverage and determining if coverage applies to claims submitted, escalating issues as needed
Establishing and maintaining good client relationships with the insured, brokers, investigators, solicitors and the general public
Ensuring compliance with relevant statutory guidelines and standards
Initiation and completion of any recoveries from third parties
Self-audit of claims files to ensure positive internal audits
Response to enquiries in an accurate, timely, professional and courteous manner within Privacy guidelines
Your story so far
Strong technical claims experience and expertise in managing complex Latent & Special Risk claims is preferred.
Strong technical claims expertise in specialty classes of insurance, including managing complex bodily injury, including psychiatric and psychological injury, with sound decision-making based on technical, investigative, and medical reports.
Proven understanding of underwriting procedures and policy wordings across a diversified liability portfolio.
Skilled in engaging and collaborating with external providers such as loss adjusters, lawyers, and consultants.
Expert knowledge and practical application of the General Insurance Code of Practice.
Effective relationship-building with clients and customers, maintaining confidentiality and resilience.
Capable of participating in alternative dispute resolution processes.
