- Join an organisation with a thriving culture centred around high performance and care
We're REA
With bold and ambitious goals, REA Group is changing the way the world experiences property. No matter where you're at on your property journey, we're here to help with every step - whether that's finding or financing your next home.
Our people are the key to our success. At the heart of everything we do, is a thriving culture centred around high performance and care. We are purpose driven and collaborative, which drives innovation and our ability to make a real impact. As such, we're proud to have been named in Australia's "Top 5" Best Workplaces two years in a row, as well as being recognised as a Best Workplace for Women.
Where the team fits in
This role sits within the Owner Engagement & Selling (Leads to Keys Portfolio). Our mission is to engage and to empower property owners to take meaningful actions, and driving seller leads. Our team designs, builds, and optimizes the property & owner experiences on both web and mobile.
Day to day of the job
As an Engineer – Mobile (Android), you will play a key role in building and delivering our mobile experience. You will be actively involved in the development process—working closely with product, design, and other engineers to implement ideas, build features, and contribute to the solutions we create. You will be responsible for implementing components of our mobile applications in a collaborative team environment.
Your technical skills in mobile development with a speciality in iOS will be essential for delivering robust, maintainable, and performant code. You'll have a solid understanding of mobile development principles, API integration, and performance optimisation. You'll also have the opportunity to grow your skills by working outside your core mobile expertise—whether that's contributing to web, backend APIs, cloud services, or automation pipelines—as you help the team deliver end-to-end solutions.
You will be a collaborative member of the team, offering guidance to junior developers through code reviews and pairing and contributing to technical design discussions. Your focus will be on taking ownership of features and components, writing well-designed code, and staying hands-on in the day-to-day development lifecycle, with the support of your Engineering Manager and senior teammates.
You will continually grow your technical competency by staying up-to-date with mobile platform changes, emerging tools, and new techniques. You will contribute positively to our team culture, help improve our development processes, and play an active part in building a high-performing and collaborative team.
How will you support the team

- Write, test, and document high-quality code according to REA Engineering standards.
- Take ownership of features or stories, including leading small initiatives
- Contribute to delivery planning, estimation and technical design by evaluating options, effort, and quality considerations.
- Collaborate with product, design, developers, and stakeholders to design solutions that meet user needs and align with team goals.
- Maintain and enhance existing products, including bug fixes, performance improvements, and feature updates.
- Support production systems, system custodianship, including participating in the Day Pager roster.
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement of products, technology, processes, and team development.
- Stay updated with technological advancements to guide product and technical design.
Who we're looking for
- Solid experience in Android development lifecycle & practices with proficiency in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
- Proven ability to build and maintain high-quality, performant, and scalable applications.
- Focus on quality, maintainability, and user experience.
- Passionate about UI development with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills in cross-functional teams.
- Willingness and curiosity to work across the stack - including integrations, backend services, and delivery pipelines.
- Experience in troubleshooting and resolving production issues and a commitment to "you build it, you run it" ownership from development through production.
- Comfortable in an agile, fast-paced environment
- Practical experience with AWS or GCP and integrating mobile applications with backend services.
- Familiarity in iOS ecosystem, Swift & SwiftUI is a bonus
