Crumpets by Merna is Sydney's home of handcrafted, gourmet crumpets & English muffins which are baked fresh daily. Founded on Merna's dedication to quality ingredients and creative flavour combinations, we've built a loyal following—from local cafés, hotels & airlines—who crave our signature buttermilk and whole-grain varieties. Every batch is made with care, transparency, and a dash of innovation, fostering a warm, collaborative kitchen environment where ideas—and crumpets & muffins—rise together.

The Role

As a kitchen dynamo who thrives in a fast-paced, supportive environment, you'll be the backbone of our daily production kitchen. You'll keep our kitchen humming, support our team at peak times, and ensure every crumpet and muffin leaves the hotplates golden, fluffy, and perfect.

Your Responsibilities


• Execute daily mise en place to keep production on schedule


• Clean and sanitise baking equipment and work surfaces


• Store flours, batters, and toppings in labelled, food-safe containers


• Assist cooks during peak times on the hotplate as required


• Prep ingredients for daily batches


• Follow strict sanitation and food-safety policies


• Perform opening or closing duties as rostered


• Offer proactive help to teammates whenever needed

  • Be professional at all times
  • Bring energy, reliability & a great attitude to every shift.

About You


• Minimum 6 months' kitchen-hand or cook experience


• Strong hand-eye coordination and a keen eye for detail


• Comfortable working in warm, fast-paced environments


• Punctual, dependable, and eager to learn Merna's recipes


• Thrives under pressure and values teamwork


• Valid work rights in Australia


• Supplied uniform and all necessary equipment


• Mentorship from Merna and our head baker


• A supportive, creative team culture


• Opportunities to upskill in artisan baking and small-batch production
