We are currently seeking an experienced Rail Asset Engineer to join our team in Melbourne.
About the Role:
As an Asset Engineer, you'll help shape the asset management framework that underpins safe, reliable and efficient operations. You'll work closely with engineering and operational teams to build the systems, data and processes needed for long-term asset performance. In this role, you will:
- Develop and maintain the O&M Asset Management Policy, Strategy and Asset Management Plan
- Support the development of the Asset Management System and Asset Information Management Plan
- Ensure alignment with ISO 55000 standards
- Build and maintain a complete asset database, including integration with digital engineering models
- Define condition monitoring requirements, asset data needs and technical interfaces
- Maintain asset criticality assessments and key risk registers
- Support prioritisation of corrective maintenance and development of maintenance programs
- Develop lifecycle cost models and spares/consumables strategies
- Define the initial maintenance works program and approach to spares management
- Support integration of asset information into operational readiness activities
- Define the process for transferring asset data into the Enterprise Asset Management System
- Contribute to asset maintenance standards, procedures, guides and templates.
About You:
You're an experienced asset management professional with a strong understanding of how rail systems operate across their full lifecycle. You bring both technical expertise and the ability to work collaboratively across engineering, operations, and project delivery teams. To succeed in this role, you will have:
- A bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
- 7–10 years' experience in asset management within rail or complex transport projects
- Hands-on experience implementing Asset Management Systems aligned with ISO 55000
- Strong capabilities in asset data management within operational control environments
- Experience working with condition monitoring systems, including IoT-based technologies
- Excellent communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Certification or training in relevant asset management or system technologies (desirable)
- Experience with project management tools and methodologies, with a history of delivering complex technical projects on time and within budget (desirable).
