Your part in our UnitingCare team
StandBy – Support After Suicide provides support to anyone bereaved or impacted by suicide, including individuals, families, witnesses, first responders, workplaces and community groups. StandBy offers free face-to-face and/or telephone support, and fully funded education and training to build community awareness and resilience.
Supporting the Brisbane North and Brisbane South PHNs you will be a key contributor to our leadership group and be passionate about community engagement and embedding a culture of collaboration and service excellence. The Senior StandBy Response Worker is a highly dynamic and challenging role where duties will vary from one day to the next.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Service Leader in the development, implementation and ongoing direction of the StandBy service.
- Providing trauma informed, non-clinical support to a client face-to-face or over the phone
- Setting up and delivering a workshop for community members or service professionals
- Debriefing a team member
- Attending a network meeting to promote our service.
- Helping to coordinate a team of casual workers across the PHN to deliver face-to-face or telephone support sessions.
As this rewarding role is in a specialist area, you will be provided with guidance and training, mentoring, external supervision and professional development opportunities.
What makes a difference for us?
This role requires:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field including Psychology, Social Work, Community Development
- Understanding of grief and bereavement through a trauma informed lens
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective systems, procedures and processes within prescribed policies and guidelines.
- Demonstrated awareness of reflective practice and self-care
- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is desirable, however will be provided to successful applicant
- Current Queensland Driver Licence
- Working with Children Check (Blue Card - Paid)
- Reside within the PHN, specifically in Brisbane North or South and have flexibility to travel from time-to-time
Only those who reside in the PHN and meet the role requirements above will be considered.
