Position Summary

As our Driller's Assistant you'll supports our customers Driller's in underground drilling operations. This includes site preparation, handling equipment, managing drill consumables, supporting sample recovery, and ensuring compliance with WHS standards. The role is physically demanding, based in remote environments, and safety-critical.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assist with setup and operation of underground drilling equipment
  2. Handle drill rods, core barrels, casing, and associated tooling underground
  3. Support with consumables, water and mud supply, and housekeeping
  4. Collect and label core samples accurately
  5. Assist with the maintenance and cleaning of equipment
  6. Comply with site safety policies, procedures, and instructions
  7. Perform pre-start inspections and report hazards
  8. Operate basic machinery and vehicles as required (e.g., underground loaders, light vehicles)
  9. Complete shift reports and assist with logistical needs underground

Required Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  1. Physically fit and capable of repetitive manual tasks
  2. Minimum 1 year in underground or surface drilling, mining, or similar
  3. Valid Manual Driver's Licence (HR preferred)
  4. Able to pass drug/alcohol screening, police check, and medical
  5. Comfortable working in confined spaces and at depth
  6. Must be an Australian citizen
  7. Driver's Licence Manual (C) required

Desirable:

  1. White Card (Construction Induction)
  2. First Aid / CPR Certification
  3. Confined Space & Working at Heights
  4. High-Risk Work Licence (e.g., forklift, dogging)
  5. Kalgoorlie, WA Based Only

Work Conditions

  1. Underground environment with high heat, noise, and dust
  2. Extended shifts, FIFO or DIDO roster (e.g., 2:1 or 3:1)
  3. Roster patterns will vary depending on operational requirements
  4. Use of PPE at all times
  5. Manual handling and strenuous physical activity
  6. Operation in remote or regional locations
