UMFC is seeking dedicated Child Wellbeing Practitioners to join our Child Wellbeing Team. We currently have two full-time maximum-term positions available (12-month or 8-month). Operating within the Orange Door, this role offers a single-entry point for vulnerable children, young people, and families to access a range of services and supports. The Orange Door model, established through the Royal Commission into Family Violence, delivers integrated responses to family violence, child safety, and wellbeing concerns across Victoria.

About the Role

As a Child Wellbeing Practitioner, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team within The Orange Door to deliver high-quality, safe, and effective responses to children, young people, and families. You will undertake intake, screening, assessment, crisis response, and referrals, while ensuring practice is inclusive, culturally responsive, and grounded in the Best Interests Case Practice Model and MARAM Framework. You will also actively contribute to stakeholder partnerships and maintain accurate, timely records in line with UMFC and Orange Door policies.

About You

We are looking for someone who is passionate, skilled, and ready to make a difference. You will bring:


• A Bachelor of Social Work (or equivalent qualification) aligned with Recommendation 209 – Mandatory Minimum Qualification Requirements for

Specialist Family Violence Workers.


• Demonstrated proficiency in family violence risk assessment and management aligned with the MARAM framework.


• Experience in screening, triage, assessment, and planning, including complex risk assessment and risk management.


• Strong knowledge of child development, trauma, and attachment frameworks and their practical application.


• A deep understanding of Aboriginal societies and cultures, with commitment to ongoing learning and cultural respect.


• Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.


• Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation including the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005, Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005, and Child Safe Standards.


• Excellent administrative and record-keeping skills with a focus on compliance and attention to detail.
