With a strong foundation in minerals processing, we are expanding into new commodities, markets, and regions globally to deliver smart, practical engineering solutions.

Reporting to the Senior Technology Engineer, you will undertake research and development activities to support the creation and implementation of new technologies for client operations and regionally based facilities.

Focused on innovation, your work will incorporate sensors, LiDAR, drones, and advanced digital systems to ensure Sedgman remains at the forefront of the industry.

Your role will be primarily office-based, with opportunities to travel to site for deployments, broadening your hands-on understanding of project execution and allowing you to contribute to a diverse range of rewarding and forward-thinking projects.

Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to attend leading tech conferences, collaborate with industry experts, and work on projects that could result in your research being published in business technical journals, as achieved by several of our team members.

Primary Duties:

  • Conduct research and development projects to support new technology deployment, including undertaking PoC and pilot trials to validate sensor solutions.
  • Manage projects and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with engineering, data science, and systems teams to ensure seamless project integration.
  • Design and develop advanced sensory solutions using Mechatronics, and configure and maintain code, software, and web-based services for sensory systems.
  • Develop standards and specifications for integrating new technology within plant designs.
  • Provide technical support and perform studies to drive technology improvements in minerals processing plants.

Who are you?

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mechatronics or Electrical) preferred, though other engineering fields will be considered.
  • Experience in coding (C, Python, SQL) and troubleshooting electrical and control systems.
  • A background in mining or construction, with knowledge of PLC & SCADA, is desirable.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interpret technical data sheets, electrical drawings, and engineering documents.
  • Ability to travel as required and work safely and independently on remote mine sites.
