Watertek Pty Ltd is a leading provider of designs, supply and installation of irrigation systems for agriculture, design, supply and installation of commercial irrigation systems for local government parks & gardens and playing fields, water supplies for stock water, water supplies for industry, local and state government bodies. Watertek is also a significant provider of products and services into the plumbing retail and trade market in Griffith, NSW.

The Irrigation Technician will provide irrigation installation, maintenance and repair services to the agricultural, commercial and domestic sectors. This person will drive the installation of irrigation projects through to commissioning and in collaboration with colleagues will manage best practice outcomes in a timely manner. Being able to maintain, diagnose and repair pumps, control systems, filtration systems, water meters, valving, piping and manifolds will be an integral part of this position. This person will communicate with our clients and ensure that their needs are clearly identified and tasked appropriately and efficiently.

Responsibilities will include:

• Installation of Irrigation systems including pumps, filtration, manifolds and pipework, water meters. valving and irrigation control systems.
• Prepare and read irrigation design drawings to facilitate the installation of the irrigation system.
• Maintain irrigation system components such as pumps, filtration systems, fertigation equipment, water meters, valves, pipework and manifolds.
• Diagnose issues with the components that make up the irrigation system such as irrigation controllers, pump controllers, pumps, filtration and valving.
• Repair and testing of pumps, control systems, filtration systems, valves, pipework and manifolds.
• Repair and testing of pumps, control systems, filtration systems, valves, pipework and manifolds.
• Determine irrigation system hydraulic parameters.
• Provide analytical diagnosis of hydraulic issues in irrigation systems.
• Provide analytical diagnosis of irrigation control systems.
• Preparing offers to meet specific needs of our clients.
• Provide best practice project installations to support strong client outcomes.
• Liaising with other service technicians and contractors to install and commission irrigation and water supply systems.
• Adopting a strong platform for furthering industry knowledge through education and training.
• Mentoring other staff members where your knowledge and skills are appropriate.
• Collaborating with management to implement strategies for continued and improved client outcomes.
• Assist the purchasing department with procurement of products, services and spare parts as required to ensure client satisfaction.
• Assisting with stock management where appropriate.
• Generating new clients and supporting existing clients.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum Certificate IV in Irrigation Management or Degree in Agricultural Engineering or Equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years experience in the Irrigation and Water Supply industries.
• Experience with CAD based irrigation software ie. Irricad.
• Strong control system trouble shooting skills.
• Strong knowledge of electric motor control systems and electronics.
• Strong knowledge of Irrigation system components and capability.
• Excellent written and communication skills.
