About the opportunity

Working in the Menzies Institute for Medical Research (Menzies) at the University of Tasmania, the Postdoctoral Research Fellow will work with researchers across the University, external stakeholders and people with lived experience on projects related to Parkinson's Disease.

The incumbent will focus on projects that aim to improve outcomes for people with Parkinson's. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to research that makes difference to people with chronic neurological conditions. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team and partners, the role ideally requires expertise in the area of rehabilitation, allied health and neurological conditions, as well as strong project management, communication and problem-solving skills.

What you'll do:

  • Make an effective and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
  • Work in partnership with internal and external stakeholders, including people living with Parkinson's, to ensure the success of the ParkinsonNet project.
  • Contribute to the development of Menzies by participating in community engagement and philanthropic initiatives.
  • Comply with the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research and UTAS Framework for the Responsible Conduct of Research.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally and nationally with the discipline.

What we're looking for:

  • A PhD in a field relevant to allied health, rehabilitation, neurological conditions and/or implementation science.
  • A good record of, and continuing commitment to, research that has achieved national and increasingly international recognition.
  • Participation in consumer and community involvement (CCI), including conducting high-quality research, fostering partnerships, and working to enhance meaningful consumer involvement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiate and communicate effectively with a range of people and organisations.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide input and assist with the preparation of ethics applications, grant reports, manuscripts and funding applications.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level A or Academic Level B and will have a total remuneration package of up to $133,235 comprising base salary within the range of $83,198 to $133,235 plus 17% superannuation.
