Fitzroy is a new force in the Queensland metallurgical coal mining industry with a portfolio of existing operations and a pipeline of growth projects.  In our short history, we have successfully reinvigorated operations at Carborough Downs underground mine, breathed new life into the Broadlea open cut and we also have our new underground longwall mine at Ironbark No.1.

About the role

Fitzroy are looking for a dedicated Process Control System Coordinator to join our team, reporting to the EEM. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the installation and maintenance of PCS infrastructure meets required standards, while ensuring that PCS systems are programmed and maintained for safe and efficient operation. You will also coordinate PCS activities for new projects or system integrations, ensuring proper planning, resourcing, and timely implementation. Additionally, you will assist with troubleshooting breakdowns and contribute to fault identification and notification systems, playing a key role in maintaining smooth and efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities include

• Contribute to the modification and design of PCS systems
• Monitor the installation and maintenance of PCS equipment
• Program and ensure the proper functioning of PCS systems
• Identify, design, recommend, and implement improvements to enhance safety
• Provide input into strategies and plans developed by others
• Assist in consistently meeting performance targets and identify opportunities for improvement in safety, costs, equipment reliability, and availability
• Collaborate with team members to achieve common goals
• Identify and report opportunities for operational improvement
• Actively participate in Fitzroy's Safety Culture through JSO's and SISPAV actions
• Provide technical expertise and coaching to trades and staff on control system components

About You

• Possess trade or engineering-based PCS knowledge and competency
• Hold trade or tertiary qualifications
• Previous experience in a PCS Engineer role
• Expertise in conveyors and longwall PCS systems
• Current Standard 11 and Coal Board Medical certifications
• Trade or Engineering degree
• Demonstrated experience in the mining industry
• Strong statutory knowledge
• A keen eye for detail with a results-driven, highly focused, motivated, and self-directed approach
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with employees at all levels
• Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach
• Ability to facilitate and manage change effectively
