About the Health, Safety and Wellness department:

An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Coordinator to join the Health, Safety and Wellness team within the People and Culture division at Austin Health. The Health, Safety and Wellness department is responsible for providing advisory services, strategic direction and planning for the workforce health, safety and wellness across all Austin Health campuses. Key areas of responsibility include occupational health and safety management, injury recovery and return to work, safety and wellbeing education and training, and the wellbeing program.

About the role:

In this role, you'll support the activities of our OHS Management System. You'll conduct risk assessments, coordinate and lead incident investigations, and help drive continuous improvement in safety performance. You'll collaborate closely with leaders and employees to ensure compliance, empower safe work practices, and make a real difference at Austin Health. 

This role is a fixed term, parental leave backfill commencing 01/12/2025 and finishing 24/01/2027.

About You

To be successful in this role you'll bring with you:

  • A relevant OHS qualification, ie Certificate IV OHS.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective key stakeholder relationships with both internal and external groups.
  • Experience working with staff and leaders from all levels of an organisation and adapting an approach for varying audiences.
  • Highly effective communication, administration and analytical skills.
