UX Designer

Mid to Senior-Level UX Designer | Digital Experience Team | 12-Month Contract

Are you a self-driven UX expert looking to own the user experience for a major organisation? This is a high-impact, hands-on opportunity to be the UX Lead within our growing Digital Experience Team, shaping the digital landscape of a major university. You won't just be a designer; you'll be the designer. As our primary UX expert, you will take ownership of critical digital initiatives from concept to delivery. You will work within a collaborative, dynamic Digital Experience Team, providing the critical UX expertise that frees up the Lead to focus on strategy.

Key Accountabilities

• Student Portal MVP: Lead the design and delivery of a brand-new, personalized student portal, with significant scope to introduce your own innovative ideas and functionality.
• Website Redesign: Play a critical role in strategic redesigns of key sections of the main university website in preparation for an upcoming platform upgrade.
• Process & Strategy: Act as the main point of contact for all UX matters, driving the application of user-centered design principles, conducting user testing, and contributing to the development of our internal design system.
• Future Impact: Influence and contribute to major upcoming projects, including a new staff portal and the optimisation of all application and enrollment forms

Key Requirements
We are looking for a motivated Mid to Senior-level professional ready for a minimum 12-month commitment to see these major projects through.

• Proven Experience: Demonstrated success as a Mid to Senior-level UX Designer, with a strong portfolio showcasing the successful design and delivery of complex web applications or portals.
• UX Mastery: Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, information architecture, and interaction design.
• Collaboration & Influence: Exceptional soft skills, including strong communication, the ability to take direction, influence stakeholders across the organization, and demonstrate creative flair.

Bonus Points (Nice To Haves)

• Familiarity with modern design and prototyping tools like Figma and Miro.
• Experience working with CMS platforms such as Squiz.

You'll work closely with a Digital Champion, Developers (Junior, Senior Front-End, and Back-End), Web Admin, and the Digital Experience Lead.
