About the role
The Section Lead Physiology is responsible for supporting the Manager, Physical Preparation with the evaluation of Physiological performance services, contribute to maintaining world class technical standards of Physiology support and represent the Physiology team in leadership meetings. The Physiology Section Lead is required to positively contribute to organisational and high-performance planning of Physiology and the recruitment and performance management of Physiology staff.
The role will oversee, quality assure and manage the technical delivery of Physiology support across NSWIS sport programs, ensuring relevance and alignment with national partner priorities. The role will also provide technical expertise and Physiology support to athletes and coaches in allocated sports program(s).
This is a full time position, attracting a salary range of $129,043 - $134,208 pa plus superannuation. The contract period for this role is up to 31 December 2028 in line with the Olympic cycle.
This is an identified position requiring a Working with Children Check.

About you
You will bring to our team:
- Breadth of experience in high performance sport across different sports and/or levels of the high performance athlete pathway
- Experience in developing, managing, and leading a diverse multi-disciplinary team to deliver high performance sport objectives in a complex environment, with previous experience in playing a major role within a performance/support team
- Proven ability to apply physiology knowledge to plan, periodize, innovate, and manage athletes across multiple seasons, leading to medal-winning success at a senior international level, while also developing, influencing, diagnosing, and delivering interdisciplinary solutions to complex performance problems
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships both internally and externally with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Demonstrated technical expertise in the maintenance, technical operation, and related procedures/protocols of a variety of sport science equipment and facilities.
- Demonstrated understanding of a range of sport science/medicine sub-disciplines and how they interact to provide interdisciplinary solutions in an elite sporting context
- 6+ years track record of success in the provision and application of Sports Physiology services to high performance athletes
- Master's degree in Sport Science or related field
- ESSA Level 1 (or ability to attain)
