About the opportunity

The NSW SES is seeking motivated and community-focused individuals to join our Community Capability Team. As a Community Capability Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting disaster resilience across NSW by building strong connections with local communities and stakeholders. You will lead and support initiatives that prepare communities for floods, storms and tsunamis, while also supporting our dedicated SES volunteers in their community engagement efforts.

As the Community Capability Officer some your daily tasks will include:

  • Developing and maintaining networks with community organisations and Emergency Service partners
  • Working collaboratively with stakeholders to deliver effective public preparedness campaigns
  • Supporting volunteers to work alongside their communities to reduce their risk and be more resilient through community engagement

Before, during and after emergency events the team members work in a variety of Incident Management Team (IMT) roles predominantly focused on the Public Information Unit function. The successful candidates will be provided training in AIIMS which is the agency's emergency management framework, along with coaching and mentoring to ensure support is provided when performing in these functions.
