WACHS is seeking dedicated and skilled Medical Imaging Technologist's (Radiographer) to join our dedicated healthcare team in Carnarvon.
This is a Permanent Full Time or Fixed Term Full Time appointment; casual and part time appointments will be considered.
As a key member of our department, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality diagnostic services while ensuring the utmost care for our patients. This is an exciting opportunity for professionals committed to excellence in medical imaging. Our radiography department is equipped with a Modern Siemens Go-Top CT and Shimadzu DR general room.
Carnarvon, WA,
is a coastal town about 900 km north of Perth, nestled between the Indian Ocean and the Gascoyne River. Known as the
food bowl of Western Australia
for its tropical produce like bananas and mangoes. The town has a
semi-arid climate
, with warm winters and hot summers. Carnarvon is rich in
Indigenous and maritime history,
with attractions like the Carnarvon Space and Technology Museum.
Outdoor enthusiasts can explore
Quobba Station
, famous for its rugged coastline and blowholes, or venture inland to the
Kennedy Range National Park
for hiking and camping. The
Coral Coast
location also makes Carnarvon a gateway to
Ningaloo Reef
and nearby marine adventures. Carnarvon does offer world class surf at Redbluff and Tombstones -3 mile (just 2 hours away). And great fishing, Kite surfing and spearfishing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret radiological requests and perform procedures in alignment with the ALARA principle and relevant legislation.
- Supervise fluoroscopy procedures conducted by licensed medical practitioners and assist radiologists during special procedures as needed.
- Maintain patient privacy, safety, and welfare throughout all examinations.
- Participate in the maintenance and quality assurance of imaging equipment, identifying and reporting any faults.
- Engage in continuous professional development to uphold registration with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia.
- Support the supervision and development of students and other staff as per senior staff direction.
Ideal Candidate:
- Must hold a tertiary qualification in Medical Imaging and is eligible for registration with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia.
- Demonstrates a strong knowledge of radiographic principles and can adapt techniques to match various clinical situations, including trauma.
- Is highly aware of the importance of patient welfare, safety, and radiation protection procedures.
- Possesses strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels.
- Can work autonomously while also being a collaborative team player.
- Has a proven ability to identify and diagnose simple imaging equipment issues.
