Kennel Hand / Dog Groomer (Casual)

Location: Barkridge Kennels & Grooming – Canning Vale, Perth

Barkridge is seeking a motivated and reliable Casual Kennel Hand / Dog Groomer to join our team. This role combines hands-on kennel care with the opportunity to grow your own grooming business through our facilities.

About the Role

  • Kennel Hand Work (1–2 shifts per week):

  • Morning shift: 7:00am – 9:00am

  • Afternoon shift: 3:30pm – 5:00pm
  • Tasks include rotating dogs, feeding, cleaning kennels, interacting with clients for pick-up/drop-off, and checking pets in/out via Kennelbooker.
  • May occasionally be required to do pick-up and drop-off of dogs using company van. Must be confident in driving a van (automatic gearbox).

  • Grooming:

  • Grooming for Barkridge's own boarding dogs will be paid at your hourly kennel hand rate.

  • You may also bring in your own grooming clients and utilise our professional grooming room.
  • Percentages for own grooming clients will be negotiated fairly, taking into account facility use, shampoos, towels, and utilities provided by Barkridge.
Requirements
  • Minimum 12 months professional grooming experience, with confidence across all coat types and styles.
  • Comfortable handling and physically managing large dogs.
  • Reliability and punctuality are essential for kennel operations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small, supportive team.
  • Must have an ABN and insurance (contractor role – you invoice us for your time).
  • Valid driver's licence and ability to drive an automatic van for occasional dog pick-up and drop-off.
