Cyber Threat Intelligence Analyst
The Role:
As a Cyber Threat Intelligence Analyst, you will proactively identify, analyse, and disseminate intelligence on cyber threats impacting our organisation. You will transform raw data into actionable insights, enabling us to anticipate and mitigate cyber risks. By understanding threat actors, tactics, and emerging vulnerabilities, you will strengthen our security posture and contribute to an intelligence-led defence strategy.
Your New Team:
You will join our dedicated Security team within the Technology division, reporting to the Senior Manager – Cyber Security Operations. As part of Auto & General, Australia's fastest-growing major Motor and Home insurer, you will contribute to our proactive, intelligence-led defence strategy, safeguarding our digital assets and fostering a culture of high performance and integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce actionable intelligence reports on threat actors, tactics, infrastructure, and campaigns.
- Monitor and analyse the global threat landscape to identify emerging threats.
- Provide timely and accurate threat intelligence to support cyber incident response.
- Contribute to threat hunting programmes and strategic cyber defence planning.
- Maintain and enhance relationships with government agencies, law enforcement, and industry groups.
- Mentor and guide junior team members to enhance team maturity and capability.
- Independently manage incidents and escalate where required.
- Act as a digital security ambassador, fostering effective communication and building relationships across the business.
Qualifications & Experience
- 4-7 years of experience in cyber security, with 2-4+ years specifically in Cyber Threat Intelligence.
- Proficiency in malware analysis, dark web and clear web research for identifying IOCs, IOAs, and TTPs.
- Hands-on experience with Threat Intelligence Platforms (TIPs) such as MISP, CERT/SOC.
- Strong knowledge of threat intelligence lifecycle and methodologies (e.g., MITRE ATTACK, MITRE DEFEND, Diamond Model, Cyber Kill Chain).
- Experience with SIEM, SOAR, Vulnerability Scanners, Attack Surface Management (ASM) tools, or TIPs.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise environments (Windows, Linux, Active Directory, DNS).
- Ability to articulate technical/operational risk into business risk for executive management and non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey complex technical information effectively.
- Tertiary qualifications in cybersecurity, IT, or related fields (desirable).
- Relevant certifications (e.g., GCTI, GCFA, GREM, GXPN, OSCE) or equivalent (desirable).
- Experience in cyber threat intelligence roles within Financial Services (highly regarded).
