Blackwood Community Child Care Centre is a not-for-profit organisation, which means that any profits generated by the service we provide go back into ensuring a high-quality early education service for children and families.

About the Role

The Early Childhood Teacher works as a member of Blackwood Community Childcare Centre and is responsible for leading the preparation, implementation and evaluation of developmentally appropriate programs for individual children and groups. Specifically, the role supports the provision of high-quality education and care for preschool aged children by:

  • Leading and collaborating with the development and implementation of engaging programs which support the inclusion and development of all children.
  • Collaborating and positively communicating with families to share learning and development of all children.
  • Following Centre Policy and approaching behaviour guidance positively with all children.
  • Applying knowledge and practices underpinned by the Early Years Learning Framework and the National Quality Standard to drive high quality learning and ongoing improvement for the centre.
  • Guided by the centre philosophy, lead ongoing critical reflection of the educational program to provide an engaging, challenging and play-based program of learning for all children.

You are an enthusiastic and dedicated Early Childhood Teacher who is passionate about strength-based learning through play.  Your ability to work as part of a team and proven skill in supporting children's learning will be key to your success in this role.

You will have:

  • A Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (or equivalent).
  • Current registration with Teacher's Registration Board of South Australia.
  • Current First Aid and CPR qualifications.
  • Current RRHAN-EC certificate.
  • Current DHS Working With Children Check.
  • Appropriate skills, knowledge and training in food safety and hygienic handling of food and equipment.
  • Proven ability to interact with children in a positive, sensitive and respectful manner.
  • Ability to work with and lead other team members in the inclusion, support and development of all children.
  • Knowledge of current childcare pedagogies and theories and the Early Years Learning Framework.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
