Job Opportunity: Outreach Worker – Irish Australian Support and Resource Bureau (IASRB)

Location: Northcoate, Victoria, Australia (on site)

Type: Full-Time (38 hours per week)

Reports To: IASRB Coordinator

About the role

The Irish Australian Support and Resource Bureau (IASRB) is seeking a compassionate and

proactive Outreach Worker to provide direct support to members of the Irish-Australian

community across Victoria.

This role involves visiting individuals in their homes, hospitals, care facilities, or other locations,

and delivering practical and emotional assistance tailored to their unique needs. You will be

responsible for managing individual cases, connecting people to essential services, and

ensuring consistent, high-quality care.

Key responsibilities

● Conduct regular outreach visits to clients in a variety of settings

● Provide emotional support, needs assessments, and referrals to relevant services

● Manage a caseload with professionalism and confidentiality

● Develop support plans in collaboration with clients, families, and service providers

● Assist clients in navigating government systems such as Centrelink, housing, and health

services

● Refer individuals to legal, medical, and welfare specialists as required

● Help clients access essentials such as food, clothing, and accommodation

● Assist with tracing family connections or locating missing persons

● Promote IASRB services in the wider community and engage with cultural organisations

● Collaborate with volunteers to support client care and community integration

● Maintain accurate case records and contribute to team reporting

What we're looking for

Essential:

● Experience in community outreach, casework, or support services

● Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities in the field

● Strong interpersonal and communication skills

● Knowledge of community welfare systems and referral pathways

● Driver's licence and willingness to travel across Victoria

● Competence with digital record-keeping and time management

Desirable:

● Experience working with migrant or culturally diverse communities

● Understanding of Irish heritage and the migrant experience

● A degree or relevant qualifications in Mental health / Social services / Psychology or

related field
