Production Assistant (Day Shift)

Australian Growing Solutions Pty Ltd (AGS) is seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Production Assistant on Day Shift.  You will play a pivotal role within our production team, contributing significantly to the efficiency, positive culture and safety standards of our manufacturing operations.  You will be at the forefront of ensuring seamless production processes and high quality output in this versatile role.

AGS is located at Tyabb on the Mornington Peninsula, a manufacturer of growing media supplying commercial growers and the Nursery Industry.  We began over 50 years ago as a producer and marketer of organic manures.  Today, we offer a variety of premium horticultural products.  We are proudly a subsidiary of Klasmann-Deilmann that has a team of about 1,000 employees worldwide and generates about 300 million EUR in annual turnover in 100+ sales markets.  We stand for quality, innovation and sustainability.

This is a full time position with the hours Monday to Thursday 5.00am to 1.30pm with a 30 minute unpaid meal break.  The hours on Friday are 5.00am to 11.00am with no meal break by agreement.

Responsibilities

· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, following standardized work procedures and adhering to safe practices within a continuous improvement framework.

· Perform essential pre-operation tasks such as calibration and cleaning to ensure proper equipment startup.

· Learn to operate and monitor the Continuous Blending Line (CBL) during production to ensure high-quality output and minimize unplanned downtime.

· Load correct job and verify all fertilizers and raw materials according to Bill of Materials (BOM).

· Maintain effective communication with both internal and external parties involved in the production process.

· Perform equipment calibration as required.

· Complete all necessary documentation accurately and in a timely manner.

· Conduct quality checks and take samples as per quality control procedures.

· Operate gantry crane efficiently and safely.

· Loading and unloading of trucks.

· Possess knowledge of computer operations related to the blending line.

· Participation in scheduled housekeeping tasks across the site.

· Troubleshoot operational issues as they arise.

· Collaborate with maintenance personnel to resolve equipment issues promptly.

· Maintain high standards of housekeeping and sanitation within the production area.

· Document and report any issues that may arise with the Production Supervisor.

Requirements and Skills:

· Proven experience as a Production Assistant, preferably in a similar manufacturing environment.

· Working knowledge of various high-speed machinery and measurement tools.

· Current forklift licence is essential.

· Front end loader operator licence would be advantageous.

· Understanding of production procedures and workflows.

· Adherence to Health and Safety regulations and protocols.

· Excellent teamwork and communication abilities.

· Physical fitness to handle the demands of the role effectively.

· Will be subject to a pre-employment medical including drug & alcohol screening.

· Have the right to work in Australia.

· Willingness to work overtime at times during the week and on Saturdays occasionally.
