Regarding Role:

The Geospatial Engineer is responsible for 
designing, developing, and maintaining spatial data systems
 that support planning, construction, and operational activities.

They leverage 
GIS, remote sensing, surveying, and 3D data modelling
 to provide actionable insights for infrastructure, utilities, and environmental projects.

 
Key Responsibilities
1. Data Capture & Management

  • Collect, validate, and process spatial data from multiple sources (GPS, LiDAR, drones, satellite imagery, survey instruments).
  • Maintain and update geospatial databases (e.g. Esri ArcGIS, QGIS, or AutoCAD Map 3D).
  • Develop and manage geospatial data standards, metadata, and quality assurance processes.

2. Analysis & Visualisation

  • Perform spatial and network analysis for asset management, planning, and risk assessment.
  • Create high-quality maps, dashboards, and 3D visualisations to support decision-making.
  • Use tools such as 
    ArcGIS Pro, FME, or Python
     for automation and advanced analytics.

3. Integration & Automation

  • Integrate geospatial systems with enterprise applications (e.g. Asset Management, ERP, SCADA, or CRM platforms).
  • Automate workflows for data ingestion, transformation, and reporting using APIs or ETL tools.
  • Support creation of 
    digital twins
     and 
    real-time geospatial monitoring systems
    .

4. Project & Stakeholder Support

  • Provide spatial insights and mapping support to engineers, planners, environmental scientists, and field teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure design, route alignment, and impact assessment.
  • Ensure spatial data aligns with project requirements, environmental regulations, and safety standards.

5. Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Stay up to date with emerging geospatial technologies, standards, and open data initiatives.
  • Recommend improvements in data collection, integration, and visualization workflows.
  • Contribute to digital transformation and smart asset management strategies.
