Senior Gateway Engineer

Seeking a Senior Gateway Engineer with at least five (5) years demonstrated experience in the design, management and maintenance of internet gateway and/or large scale data centre networking environment.

Infrastructure Engineers implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services. The Senior Gateway Engineer uses their in-depth knowledge of specific ICT Platforms to provide expert advice on the management and maintenance of those platforms. They work closely with key third party suppliers to ensure the provision of a robust gateway infrastructure capability for the business, and liaise with architecture and shared services areas to ensure the security of the day-to-day technical operations. Senior Gateway Engineers exercise a considerable degree of independence, with decision-making substantially dependent on their high-level judgement and consideration of wider agency implications, with work being performed under the general guidance of senior staff.

At least five (5) years demonstrated experience in the design, management and maintenance of internet gateway and/or large scale data centre networking environment.

1. Demonstrated experience and technical proficiency in the design of services utilising F5/Blue Coat Layer 4-7 switching/load balancing and proxy systems.
2. Demonstrated experience in the design and deployment of network infrastructure including Cisco Data centre technologies like Cisco ACI, Cisco Routers, nexus switches, routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, EIGRP
3. Demonstrated experience with and/or detailed understanding of Palo Alto firewalls and IPS Solutions
4. Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of VPN technologies, email and DNS (Infoblox) Solutions.
5. Demonstrated experience in the design and integration of hybrid and public cloud services.
6. Demonstrated experience in the development and maintenance of system architecture and design documentation.
7. Demonstrated experience with or knowledge of Australian Government information security policies, the ASD Information Security Manual and Essential Eight.

Essential criteria

Contract: 12 Months  with  up to 24 months extension option

Security Required: NV1 Security Clearance required 

Location - Canberra, Hybrid based -  This role must work from the specified office location (Canberra) for a minimum of 6 weeks before a WFHA will be considered. Any WFHA will require Labour Hire Workers to work in the specified office location a minimum of 3 days per week.
