Yard Hand / Forklift Driver – Recycling Facility

We are seeking a reliable, safety-focused Yard Hand / Forklift Driver to join our recycling team. This is a hands-on role in a busy, high-volume yard where no two days are the same. The ideal candidate will have strong forklift operating skills, a great work ethic, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a dynamic environment.

About the Role

You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the yard, including sorting materials, operating machinery, loading/unloading vehicles, and keeping the site clean and organised. This role requires someone who is confident working outdoors and performing manual tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a forklift to load, unload, stack, and move materials
  • Sort and process recyclable materials (metals, cardboard, plastics, etc.)
  • Assist with general yard duties, manual handling, and housekeeping
  • Perform basic maintenance and safety checks on machinery and equipment
  • Follow WHS procedures and maintain a safe working environment
  • Work collaboratively with the yard team and communicate effectively
  • Provide support during peak periods and adapt to changing priorities

Skills & Experience

  • Current forklift licence (highly desirable)
  • Experience operating forklifts in a fast-paced environment
  • Previous experience in waste, recycling, construction, or yard work highly regarded
  • Strong awareness of safety requirements
  • Ability to handle heavy materials and work in all weather conditions
  • Reliable, hardworking, and self-motivated
  • Good communication skills and a team-focused attitude
