About the role:

As a Laundry Assistant you will be required to ensure clients have clean clothing and linens by handling laundry tasks and delivering items to and from client's homes or facilities. This role supports client's hygiene and comfort, provides a friendly presence, and contributes to the organisation's operational efficiency. Additionally, the laundry assistant will be encouraged to provide guidance and support to the supported employees to help develop job skills and gain work experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality customer service both face to face and through phone communication
  • Assist the supported employees by providing guidance and training to achieve their goals
  • Pick up and deliver laundry to and from client's homes or facilities.
  • Provide a friendly and supportive presence during pickups and deliveries.
  • Sort laundry based on colour, fabric and type, then load into the washer using the appropriate detergents and cleaning solutions
  • Remove stains from items using the appropriate procedures and chemicals
  • Dry and iron clothes using the dryer and steamer to ensure that it is dried at the appropriate temperature
  • Fold, hang and package laundered items ready for pickup or delivery to customers or hospitals and aged care facilities
  • Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the laundry facility and ensure any faulty equipment is reported to management
  • Report all work health and safety issues to the Laundry Manager
  • Collaborate with all staff members to work effectively in a team environment
  • Maintain and keep an up to date record of inventory of supplies and equipment such as detergents, bleach and fabric softeners

This is a full-time position. You will be required to work on a flexible rotating roster with a possibility of some weekend and public holiday work. The pay rate will be negotiated based on skills and qualifications for the right candidate.

About you:

  • Proven work experience as a Laundry Assistant or similar role
  • Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks throughout each shift
  • Attention to detail when sorting coloured items and handling delicate fabrics
  • Good customer service skills when handling customer requests
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Capacity to lift up to 10kg unaided
