Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Director, Country and Language to oversee our Country and Language Unit, which includes the Ranger Program, Language Program, and the Nanutarra Homestead Redevelopment Project. This is a strategic leadership role where you will be responsible for ensuring the effective delivery and growth of these programs, while managing the Corporation's obligations in land access for our members.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the Country and Language Unit, including up to five direct reports.

  • Oversee the PKKP Aboriginal Corporation's obligations under its various funding agreements for the Ranger Program, Language Program, and the Nanutarra Homestead Redevelopment Project.

  • Develop and execute operational plans for these programs, regularly reporting to the PKKP AC Board and Heritage Committees.

  • Manage and grow the Return to Country field trip program, providing PKKP members with the opportunity to reconnect with their cultural heritage.

  • Lead efforts to increase employment opportunities for PKKP members within the Country and Language Unit.

  • Establish strong support systems for members employed within the unit to ensure their professional development.

  • Provide regular updates to the Senior Executive on the activities of the Country and Language Unit, aligned with PKKP AC's strategic and operational plans.

About You

We are looking for a dynamic leader with a strong background in land management, experience working with Aboriginal communities, and demonstrated executive leadership skills. To succeed in this role, you will have:

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualifications and/or Experience in Land Management.

  • Experience working with Aboriginal communities, with a solid understanding of their cultural and land management needs.

  • Proven executive leadership experience, including leading teams, managing complex projects, and overseeing strategic initiatives.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with internal teams, stakeholders, and the community.

  • A commitment to advancing Aboriginal cultural heritage and community development.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to travel remotely, intrastate, and interstate regularly.
