About UNSW

At UNSW, we pride ourselves on being a workplace where the best people come to do their best work.  We aspire to be Australia's global university, improving and transforming lives through excellence in research, outstanding education and a commitment to advancing a just society.

Why your role matters

AGSM Executive Education equips leaders with the skills and mindset to succeed in a dynamic global environment. Developed with industry, government, and community partners, its programs address real organisational challenges and future capability needs. Delivered across Australia and online, AGSM offers world-class short courses, customised programs, and capability solutions that help leaders navigate complexity, drive innovation, and achieve lasting impact.

The Client Relationship Manager (CRM) drives new business growth by identifying, pursuing, and securing partnerships within the Custom Learning Solutions space. The role builds AGSM's market presence through lead generation, consultative selling, and compelling value propositions, while managing key client relationships to ensure repeat business and sustainable growth.

The position reports to the Head of Learning Solutions and has no direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement sector business plans using market trends, client insights, and data analysis to achieve and exceed sales targets.
  • Proactively research markets to identify new opportunities, build a robust pipeline of qualified leads, and drive business growth.
  • Lead the full sales cycle, from prospecting and tender responses to proposal development, negotiation, and contract closure.
  • Identify and pursue upselling and cross-selling opportunities, aligning AGSM's full program portfolio with client needs.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers, acting as a trusted advisor to foster loyalty and retention.
  • Collaborate with marketing to design and execute outreach campaigns, attend industry events, and enhance AGSM's presence in target markets.
  • Provide accurate sales forecasts, reports, and insights through CRM and C-View systems, sharing updates on performance and market trends.
  • Prepare tailored proposals and tenders, resolve client issues professionally, and ensure programs are positioned as integrated, high-value learning pathways.

Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification (preferably MBA) or equivalent in a relevant discipline, with 3–5 years' experience in client relationship management, business development, or consultative B2B sales — ideally in an education or professional services setting.
  • Proven success in new business development, with a strong track record of building and managing sales pipelines, generating leads, and closing deals with senior executives to exceed growth targets.
  • Understanding of conceptual offerings in executive and short-course education, with the ability to translate organisational needs into tailored solutions.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills, with demonstrated ability to secure desirable outcomes in complex environments.
  • High-level interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively across a wide stakeholder base including clients, academics, practitioners, and consultants.
  • Demonstrated account management capability, including experience in preparing budgets, managing client financial reporting, and delivering against agreed outcomes.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment, fostering collaboration and innovation.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities and meet deadlines.
